Llevaba un tiempo queriendo ver esta película hasta que me surgió la oportunidad de verla, estoy orgulloso de no haber pagado por ella. "Rock of Ages" is the guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Blessed with unstoppable energy, an undeniably bawdy sense of fun and Tom Cruise in backless leather pants.
Ridiculously exaggerated characters were perfect for Hairspray, but they stand out awkwardly amid this earnest tribute.
Without Cruise, "Rock of Ages" would have been merely a bland, bright-eyed version of the winking Broadway show about L.A.'s sleazy Sunset Strip during the 1980s.
Even with Cruise more or less impersonating hip-thrusting, heavy-metal god Axl Rose in a padded supporting role, there isn?t anything approaching actual sex in this PG-13 musical, much less even a reference to any mood-altering substance stronger than scotch.
With every hair carefully in place, every note tweaked and every moment cut from the same block of plastic-wrapped Hollywood cheese, it's content to keep toes tapping, when it should be bringing the arena to its feet.
Un producto genuinamente contemporáneo: indolente, insustancial, blanco, que va de gamberro pero que sólo es ligeramente travieso, quizá como los tiempos que corren.
